LAUNE x Vintage Court Collection
Meet Matthew Osterberg, creator and founder of Vintage Court Collection. With the 137th Wimbledon Championships beginning a few days ago, people flocking to see Challengers in theaters, and tennis on the tip of everyone’s tongue, it seems as though tennis has never been so glam and popular. Drawing from the aesthetic and quiet luxury of classic, quiet luxury and Grand Slam looks, VCC is a globally-sourced collection of iconic tennis apparel. Some of the pieces that Matt sources are so incredible and date back to the 80s! Learn more about tennis core, fashion, and VCC below.
1. Tell me about yourself. Where are you originally from?
My name is Matthew Osterberg. I’m 26 years old and originally from a small farm town in Michigan called Petoskey.
2. Tell me about Vintage Court Collection? How was it created?
Vintage Court Collection is a globally-sourced collection of iconic tennis apparel. VCC was born out of my appreciation for tennis and fashion. I’ve always admired the vintage look much more than the modern style of today's game.
3. What is the LAUNE (mood) of Vintage Court Collection?
Community, high fashion, and a little bit of old Hollywood
4. What inspires you?
Fortunately Inspiration is easy to find in LA. I take inspiration from things such as art, architecture, music, but most of all the ambitious people this city has to offer
5. I have to ask, have you seen Challengers? And if so, what did you think?
I have not…is it worth the watch?? (IMO: YES!)
6. Why do you think there has been so much buzz surrounding tennis lately?
Tennis is a sport you can play your entire life and its a fun way to get good exercise. There is a sense of community with the game as well especially if you’re playing in group classes. You get the opportunity to meet great people and it’s very addicting once you start playing.
7. What’s next for you and Vintage Court Collection?
I would like to do pop ups this summer and collab with other brands/vintage boutiques in LA. It’s fun meeting my customers in person and talking tennis with them.
