LAUNE x The Tennis Lookbook

Meet Rosanne, creator and curator of The Tennis Lookbook. Tennis apparel has recently taken off and both on and off the court, the influence of tennis fashion can be seen nearly everywhere. Traditional brands are incorporating tennis apparel into their lookbooks and tennis brands are seeing an increase in demand. When players hit the court at Grand Slams, the world is not only watching the match, but what the players are wearing. Rosanne has been way ahead of this trend and has been documenting historic and iconic tennis looks over the decades. From Sharapova to Serena to Rafa, The Tennis Lookbook features the best of the best in tennis looks. Learn more about these incredible looks and The Tennis Lookbook below. 1. Tell me about The Tennis Lookbook. How was it created?

I got into tennis a few years ago and I have always loved fashion. As I started playing tennis, I was looking for outfit ideas. I mostly look for fashion inspiration on Instagram, and I couldn’t find any pages that were solely tennis fashion-related, so I thought I could create one myself.

2. What is the LAUNE (mood) of The Tennis Lookbook?

I think the mood is “curious,” “educational,” “inspiring,” and “celebrating.” Curious, because my followers and I are always looking for the newest fashionable outfits on court that tennis players wear. Educational, because I like to also post historic looks and the community also loves to recommend those as well. Inspiring, because I hope that some people can use my page as a source for outfit inspirations. Celebrating, because we love to celebrate the best looks on court, or iconic looks with a cultural impact.

3. What inspires you?

Tennis! I love to watch new and old tennis matches / highlights and when I see a cute outfit, I save it. Also, my followers recommend tons of outfits to me to post.

4. I have to ask, have you seen Challengers? And if so, what did you think?

Yes I’ve seen it. I think it is really, really difficult to stage tennis, and I think tennis enthusiasts who critique that part of the movie, that the tennis looks fake, are right, but also harsh, because I think it is one of the hardest sport to mimic. The other part of the movie, the intensity of the game, how obsessed one can become with tennis, the atmosphere and the “Laune” is pretty on point and is why I think it is a good movie. (But I am biased, I love Luca Guadagnino!)

5. Why do you think there has been so much buzz surrounding tennis lately?

People have been loving the timeless, elegant and classic style in fashion but also as a lifestyle for a while now, with the entire “old money” trend going on. So it was just a matter of time when people started to take an interest in the tennis lifestyle, since it is exactly that: timeless, elegant, and classic.

6. What’s next for you and The Tennis Lookbook?

I will just continue with what I am doing, posting recent fits, as well as looks from the past. I want to post more “Style Guides” which feature different, currently available items that I put together as outfits, displayed in a magazine-like style.
