Introducing Serves by L.A, a brand born on the court. A premium court-wear and lifestyle brand rooted in the timeless elegance of the Hamptons, Serves blends together classic aesthetics with comfortable and confident designs. Disappointed with the tennis-clothing options available on the market, founder Lindsay Abraham identified a gap in the market and Serves was born. She shares, “The courts were calling… I just answered!” Her designs make running on the court and errands chic and comfortable. 1. Tell me about yourself and Serves by L.A. How was Serves by L.A. created?
A few years ago I started taking tennis lessons in the Hamptons and fell in love with the challenge and elegance of the sport, but was constantly disappointed with the tennis clothing options on the market. At the same time, I joined the board for a local nonprofit that my heart is so connected to. I thought- what if I built a brand to empower women to look good & feel good running on the court, getting a coffee, or leading a board meeting? Serves by L.A. isn’t just about serving the ball over the net, it’s about serving back to the community. The courts were calling… I just answered!
2. What is the LAUNE (mood) of Serves by L.A.?
The Serves woman is bold, but never loud. Confident, but never trying. Always in motion. She can be spotted perfecting her backhand, catching the sunrise, and setting the pace. She shows up to celebrate every moment in life. Her style is effortlessly chic, classic, timeless, and cool.
3. What inspires you?
Traveling around the world has inspired me to dream bigger, but being rooted in the Hamptons provides a landscape that supercharges my creativity. I never knew I was creative until I moved here! The Hamptons is known for everything from the natural beauty of the beaches, historical charm of the quaint towns, to the perfectly trimmed hedges. The sleek lines, with a casual, sophisticated look create a "relaxed luxury" vibe.
4. What does the design process look like?
Always learning and dreaming bigger! My most creative days start with guided meditations/breathwork & gratitution! I have matcha, listen to a powerful playlist, and start my pinterest vision board. I’ve learned to let my mind be free and open to modifications on the daily. I also don’t take no for an answer. There is always a way!
5. You will be launching your first capsule collection this Winter/Spring. Tell me more!
The courtside collection consists of 6 timeless styles that can be mixed and matched. We are dropping each style every couple of weeks and just released The Kennedy Dress. Most sizes sold out by week 2! Our goal is to create designs that will live in your closet forever and the quality will last a lifetime. Our fabrics were sourced so meticulously. I know you will be impressed! This summer, we will do a Hamptons Takeover! So many fun events planned so stay tuned!
6. A percentage of sales from Serves by L.A. are donated to Hamptons Community Outreach. Tell me more about your mission and ethos.
When I moved to the Hamptons full time a few years ago, I started volunteering for Hamptons Community Outreach, a local nonprofit that helps lift families out of poverty. At times, people helped my family when I was younger and I always told myself I would serve it forward the second I had the means. I’m a philanthropist at heart and after I joined the board of HCO and saw the profound impact we could make on children at an early age, I was even more motivated to build a brand that could help with this important work.
7. What’s next for you and Serves by L.A.?
My dream is to build a Serves Community that not only cares about moving through life with confidence and kindness, but serving the world to leave Mother Earth a little better. The Kennedy Dress- it was my first vision which inspired the brand. I feel like Jackie-O would have approved.
2. Tennis, pickleball, or padel?
TENNIS all the way- the shots, the strokes, the techniques, the angles, this game challenges your brain in the best way ever.
3. Favorite place to play?
Any European clay court! Nothing is sexier than sliding on the clay. I fell in love this past September with the Mouratoglou Academy in Costa Navarino, Greece. A hidden gem right next to the Ioanian Sea.
4. What’s one product you could not live without?
Saie concealer. It’s really all I use on my skin.
5. What are three staple items that every closet should have?
A pair of jeans that hug your body in all the right places, loafers, and a baseball cap.
6. Describe your style in three words.
Classic, Chic, Intentionally Unintentional.. oops 4 words
7. Early mornings or sleeping in?
Early mornings! Sleep is my beauty secret. I love to be in bed by 9:30!
8. AM or PM skincare?
With such a deep-rooted history in launching skincare and makeup brands, I’m embarrassed to say I barely use skincare. My skin has been detoxing for a couple years now. I OD’d on skincare from my corporate days working on brands with P&G and Loreal. My go- to mask will always be the SK-II one. That pitera is liquid gold.
9. Dream collab?
Serves x US Open, Serves x Oprah 😊, Serves x Nike.. Serving all over the world!
10. Favorite place?
September in the Hamptons- the warm sunshine, cool breeze of fresh ocean air, walking on Gibson Beach spotting the whales waving at me.
11. Favorite drinks spot in the Hamptons?
Dureyea’s (Montauk), I don’t drink much alcohol but even the water tastes better on the deck of Dureyea’s.
12. Favorite restaurant in the Hamptons?
Tutto Il Giorno in Sag Harbor! Eat the spaghetti with a side of spinach and be inspired by Donna Karan’s eclectic style.
13. Favorite style icon?
Carolyn Bessette Kennedy- simple, classic, cool
14. Favorite movie?
Pretty Woman & Elf!
15. What are you loving right now?
I’m loving baggy jeans. I recently stumbled upon this brand - Still Here in soho on one of my fav streets I lived on (Elizabeth Street).
