LAUNE x Lepelclub
Meet Jill Snijder, founder of Lepelclub! With an aesthetic that can be described as “Pretty in Pink,” Lepelclub is a distinctive tableware brand that began with a simple yet elegant idea in Amsterdam: creating the perfect spoon. The brand's name, "Lepel," means "spoon" in Dutch, reflecting its origin story. Over time, this quest for the ideal spoon has evolved into a broader collection of thoughtfully designed tableware, combining functionality with aesthetic appeal. Lepelclub emphasizes attention to detail and a commitment to turning everyday dining experiences into something extraordinary. As someone who loves throwing dinner parties and cooking, Lepelclub is the perfect touch to any experience. Discover the story behind Lepelclub’s unique tableware and how it transforms every meal or drink below!
1. Tell me about Lepelclub. How was it created? What inspired the name?
Lepelclub was inspired during a stay at a boutique hotel in Amsterdam, where our founder was struck by how everything in the environment was beautifully crafted. When stirring her coffee, she noticed that the spoon was a bit… plain, which felt out of place in such a thoughtfully, designed setting. This sparked the idea for Lepelclub! 'Lepel' means 'spoon' in Dutch, and we’ve been dedicated to bringing creativity and style to even the smallest details ever since!
2. What is the LAUNE (mood) of Lepelclub?
We love to call Lepelclub flirty and feminine! Each piece is designed to evoke a sense of playful elegance, making everyday moments feel a little more special.
3. Describe the style of Lepelclub in three words.
Going off the last question, flirty, feminine and spontaneous. We love thinking up new ideas and ways to expand our collection - stirring up current trends and blending them with classics!
4. What’s your favorite Lepelclub piece and why?
Right now, we are loving the Bow Tumbler! It’s such a versatile product. We love to start our mornings and end our evenings with it! You can have your latte, matcha, or even a cocktail in the same glass and have it look cute at the same time.
5. What makes for the perfect dinner party?
We at Lepelclub believe there are four key ingredients to the perfect dinner party: nice guests, nice tunes, good food, and cute tableware! Having the right mix of guests and the right music playing sets the tone for the evening— ambiance is crucial! Then, delicious food is at the heart of any dinner party. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, just yum! Finally, the table setting ties everything together. Beautiful, stylish, and even a bit playful tableware, like Lepelclub, can elevate the entire dining experience. When these elements come together, you’ve got a dinner party that people will talk about long after it’s over.
6. What inspires you?
Traveling is currently my biggest inspiration. Recently I went to France and immersing myself in different cultures, aesthetics, and ways of living is such an important part of my creative process! Traveling really allows me to step outside my routine and see the world from fresh perspectives.
7. What’s next for Lepelclub?
We’ve got a lot planned for Lepelclub, which we are so excited about. We’re constantly looking at expanding our collection and new designs to keep stirring things up in the industry! We’ve also just launched at Anthropologie stores around America and the United Kingdom. We are looking at more retailers globally to make Lepelclub easily accessible for everyone to experience.
