LAUNE x Sunday Gelato
Meet Anna! Anna is the woman behind Sunday Gelato, a food & bev themed print shop that specializes in custom event stationery such as invitations, menus, and name cards. She grew up in an Italian family where food was always the main focus, and loves combining the worlds of food, design, and art.
I love all things stationary, cards, and prints and truly love Sunday Gelato’s concept! Below, Anna has put together a list of some of her favorite places in the city, places I’m sure have inspired her and her work. Salute!
1. Olmsted (Prospect Heights) - This is my favorite take-someone-special spot and it never fails. It is fancy restaurant with non-fancy prices and each dish has blown me away with its creativity, quality, and taste.
2. Corner Bar NYC (Lower East Side) - I'm a sucker for cool decor, and this spot has the sickest wall art and details. Along with that, their food is incredible and a fun spot to bring a group.
3. Saraghina Caffe (Fort Greene) - I prefer their dinner here over their brunch, and it's also one of my favorite spots to bring a friend to for cocktails and dessert since it is a little pricey. Their cocktails are so fabulous and their pasta dishes pass the I-grew-up-with-an-Italian-mother test. Also their website, what?? So cool.
4. Impasto (Clinton Hill/Fort Greene) - This is one of my favorite grab and go spots. I love stopping here for a slice of pizza, a huge focaccia sandwich, or their infamous soft serve ice cream. It's also right next door to one of my favorite coffee shops, Prima, which always makes for an unexpectedly expensive afternoon....
5. Mud Cafe (East Village) - This was one of my favorite brunch spots when I lived in the East Village. Even though the wait can be long (for good reason!), their breakfast dishes and coffee served in camper mugs always did the trick.
6. Oxomoco (Greenpoint) - I went here for my birthday last year and I am still thinking about the meal I had. The salsas were BONKERS good, and there was a mezcal pop-up that evening so we got to indulge in a flight of mezcal tastings. Incredible food and beautiful decor.
7. Laser Wolf (Williamsburg) - Still thinking about that hummus. Getting a reservation is nearly impossible, but if you're able to, you will have an amazing meal. Their dip spread was so memorable and at the end they give you soft serve ice cream which was the cherry on top.
8. Mekelburg's (Clinton Hill) - This is one of our favorite spots for a sunny afternoon to have a beer, burger, and maybe a frozen cocktail thrown in too. It's also a great place to get some work done, and their beer list is pretty nice too.
9. Taqueria el Fogon (Bushwick) - Tossing this in because I'd be remiss to not mention their birria. This is a small taqueria near Broadway triangle and their birria tacos were so cheesy, warm, and memorable.
