LAUNE x Rebecca Schneider
Meet Rebecca! Rebecca Schneider is a Manhattan-based artist specializing in fashion illustration, abstract painting, and live art experiences with with clients including Alice + Olivia, Birkenstock, Dolce and Gabbana, Essilor Luxottica, private collectors, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany & Co, Waldorf Astoria and many more. She is a self-identified romantic for life and you may see her with her markers and pad of paper anywhere from fashion week’s presentations to the best sidewalk cafés.
I love Rebecca’s work! She is incredibly talented and her work is so chic and so NYC! Below, Rebecca has put together some of her favorite NYC spots and pastimes, grouped by neighborhood. She (like me) prefers to travel this way to experience all that the city has to offer. She loves to know what is near to each other so that she can maximize what she sees. For example, it's always nice to know there's a treasure trove of a vintage shop around the corner from your hairdresser ;) (We love efficiency)! Read on for perfect days, both uptown and downtown!
You can shop prints and bespoke products in her shop and follow her journey on Instagram and TikTok.
These are go-to spots that have been in my rotation for most of my 6 years in NYC:
Beacon’s Closet on 13th St: Go on a random weekday at a time where everyone else is working or in class. You'll find clothing from all decades and personalities - at amazing price tags. I’ve gotten some amazing pieces over the years.
Felix Roasting Co. on Park Ave: Yes, midtown has NYC’s cutest coffee shop. Shocker!
Tarin Thomas : Amazing NYC-made jewelry and curated vintage from the coolest founder. Thank me later.
Happy Medium: Artists of all levels will love this art café. Choose from a slew of classes and activities like figure drawing, collaging, or even chairmaking.
If I have a free Saturday, I love to spend it solo on the UES.
Albertine Book Store: If you identify as a Francophile and librarian like me - get two fixes in one at this bookstore. The smell of books and the sound of bubbling spoken French amidst a hand painted reading loft will literally transport you to another galaxy.
Metropolitan Museum of Art: Duh. TBH hoping to get engaged here.
Bluestone Lane: I bet you’ve never taken your coffee from the doors of a stone cathedral.
Salon94: The best exhibitions in the COOLEST NYC-feeling space.
Tanya Taylor: A stroll down Madison Ave is sure to inspire. While I mostly window-shop, I have to say you MUST step inside the new Tanya Taylor. Impeccable in every sense.
Antonucci’s: End your day with an Italian feasting of which your nonna would approve. And yes, the walls (that all the amazing art hangs on) are PINK.
On many a weekday afternoon, I find myself downtown for work-related activities and always will mix in a little fun for myself. Inject inspiration in doses and it will change your life! These days are always an airy adventure of energy that would be Kelly Green, Lemon Yellow, and Frothy Aqua if I painted it.
Suite Caroline Salon: The only salon I trust in NYC. Warm and inviting yet somehow so chic and elevated at the same time. You will likely see an off-duty celeb in a chair next to you.
Pilgrim Vintage, Lara Koleji and Heart & Lous: Vintage treasure troves worthy of being gate kept.
Araks: Discover the cutest intimates to brighten your everyday.
Crosby Street Hotel: My favorite place for a colorful creative meeting.
Atelier Jolie: Pop in for afternoon caffeine. So artful - the ideal curation of café, boutique, and art studio (I heard it used to be Basquiat’s)
