LAUNE x Europhile

Welcome to Europhile. Friends Kate Walker and Catherine Roehre turned their Euro obsession into a podcast. They cover anything from European culture and history, told with an Aperol in hand!

As someone who’s professional and academic careers have centered around all things Europe, I have been listening to Europhile for quite some time now and it can only be described as fabulous. The epitome of chic-intelligence, I always come out of a listen feeling more inspired and knowledgeable. They are a very LAUNE podcast and their Instagram is the ultimate moodboard. In the below, learn more about the origins of Europhile, Catherine and Kate’s favorite LA spots, and what they’re absolutely loving right now.

1. Tell me about Europhile. How was it created? What was the inspiration behind it?

Europhile is a podcast dedicated to European history and culture. We both have European ancestry and our interests really stemmed from that. We were always talking about traveling, movies, books, food - you name it! During Covid, we both needed a creative outlet and we thought this would be a really natural next step for us.

2. How did the two of you meet?

We met at a job as clothing stylists where we trauma-bonded.

3. What is the LAUNE (mood) of Europhile?

It’s just two unserious friends who love culture, having fun and the beautiful things in life.

4. What has been your favorite episode(s) to date and why?

Kate’s is Sex & Beauty in Ancient Greece (ep 17) - it was closer to the beginning of the podcast and I remember feeling like it was a unique topic and I felt we were feeling more comfortable and getting creative!

Catherine’s is Joesphine Baker (ep 32) - she was such an ICON and it was so fun discussing her escapades in French show business, her spy work during WWII, and her civil rights activism.

5. What makes a Europhile?

While nowhere on Earth is without its problems, why we are particularly drawn to Europe is the pace and priorities of life. So to us, a Europhile is someone who is drawn to making life intentional, delicious, and lovely in the way Europeans do.

6. What’s next for Europhile?

A trip to Italy next Spring 💕

Rapid Fire:

2. Top 3 LA restaurants?

6. Favorite European (alive or dead)?
